Through a partnership with the City of Rohnert Park and the Community Action Partnership's HCA Fund, SCAYD offers one-time financial assistance with rent or deposit to eligible families in Rohnert Park and Cotati. The Homeless Prevention Program helps families who are experiencing financial difficulty and who are at-risk of becoming homeless.

To qualify, applicants need to have lived in Sonoma County for at least six months, currently be living in or moving to Rohnert Park or Cotati, and be of low-to-moderate income. All applicants need to show that they will be able to pay their future rent and maintain their housing situation for the foreseeable future beyond the emergency assistance. SCAYD cannot fund anyone who has received assistance with rent or deposit within the past two years, or received help with a deposit that was not returned to the funding agency when the applicant moved out. This program does not pay for utility bills or for stays in motels or campgrounds. Applicants receiving Section 8 Housing Assistance are not eligible for help with rent; however they may still apply for help with a deposit.
The first step in the application process is to attend a Homeless Prevention Workshop. You do not need to sign up for workshops or bring anything with you, but you do need to be on time. The workshop is about a half an hour long and presents exactly what you need to do in in order to apply for assistance.
There are two workshops offered each week:
1) TUESDAYS AT 10 A.M.
Held at the SCAYD offices, 7345 Burton Avenue, Rohnert Park.
(Located on the Mountain Shadows Middle School campus on the corner of Southwest Blvd. and Burton Avenue. Please park in the school parking lot and walk past the tennis courts. Our building is located across from the gym, on your left.)
2) THURSDAYS AT 4 P.M.
Held at the Cotati Public Safety Department, 203 West Sierra Avenue, Cotati.
(Please do not park in front of the police department - Park in the auxiliary parking area in front of the Cotati Room.)
