YOUTH EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES (YEES)

 


Sonoma County Adult and Youth Development (SCAYD) offers a variety of employment and education services to youth ages 16-21 in Rohnert Park and Cotati.

The following services are available through the program at no cost:

  • Available Job Listings and Applications as well as guidance and requirements regarding work permits and applicable Child Labor Laws.
  • Assistance with career resources, job search tools and strategies.
  • Work readiness preparation including: resumé writing, interview skills, and assistance with employment applications.
  • Support with Life Skills such as budgeting, career preparation and key decision-making.
  • Assistance with applying to colleges or trade schools with entrance applications, financial aid, scholarships, and housing.
  • Referrals to other resources as needed, such as GED prep classes and financial assistance for vocational training.


In addition to the above services, the program may also provide financial incentives and assistance for attaining educational and employment goals specified by program staff with the individual youth.


YEES Program Eligibility Requirements Include:

 

  • Must be 16 - 21 years of age, in or out of school.
     
  • Requires an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or low-income and/or an RSP student.
  • One or more socio-economic barriers to learning or career success (e.g., did not complete high school, is homeless, or foster youth).

 


The Youth Education and Employment Services are provided at our offices throughout the year (call to make an appointment) as well as through our drop-in Career Center in the Guidance Center at Rancho Cotate High School on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. throughout the school year (students must have permission from a teacher or counselor).

Program staff are also available to advise and refer students to Community Service opportunities as well as to advise how these opportunities may be used for work development and career purposes.
